This school is Set in the foothills of the Dhaula Dhar Ranges of the Himalayan Mountains and at the altitude of 7,000 feet, Dalhousie is one of the most beautiful hill resorts in India. Originally founded by the British Army as recoil for soldiers, it has now grown into a small self-sufficient student township, where in its peaceful surroundings and crystalline air, young minds prosper. Dalhousie Public School, founded over 40 years ago, is a residential co-educational school. It consists of over 1250 students, ranging from age 4 (Kindergarten) to age 16 (tenth grade) of which 1000 are residential students and the rest day scholars. The teaching staff consists of approximately 85 trained teachers most of them live in campus. Both students and teachers are selected from various parts of India and also from different places of the world thus providing an atmosphere of cultural diversity.

Poonam Dhawan has sat on the boards of several non-profits and community organisations.She was the past President of The Indus Entrepreneurs' Texas branch and led TiE's Global Initiative for Women's Professional Development. She has served on the boards of the India Community Center, the Nargis Dutt Cancer Foundation, and Saheli, an organisation dedicated to the well-being of women and children.Numerous national and regional newspapers, including the Austin American Statesman, Business Journal, Financial Times, Economic Times, Tribune, National Herald, and others, have written on her and quoted her.She is looking forward to returning to her roots in India and carrying on the legacy of her father-in-law, Mr. IM Dhawan, with Hilltop School, and is determined to making it a world-class educational institution.
